marrow is the tissue that is found in the soft centre of the body's bones.
It produces three main blood components: red cells to carry oxygen, white
cells to fight infection, and platelets to stop bleeding. When a patient's
bone marrow becomes diseased, he may often require a bone marrow
transplant. This is done by destroying the patient's diseased marrow and
replacing it with the marrow of a healthy matching donor.
